KARACHI, Oct 19: Six ships including a car carrier Perseus Leader carrying 180 units are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Sunday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where all the new arrivals and some of those awaiting berths off-port were toed to the vacant berths. They are: Jamila, Kota Teraju, Heluan and Wan-Hai-303 to unload and load containers, Da Ping Hai, to offload soyabean and Steel Might to unload fertilizer.

Three ships, Chitral, Wan Hai-303 and Umberto Damata departed on Saturday, while Jamila, PONL Thekwini, Hyundai Bridge, Heluan and Perseus Leader are due to sail out on Sunday.

Berth occupancy at the oil piers remained well below the average figure of 50 per cent at 33 per cent, while on the dry wharves it rose to 64 per cent thanks to steady arrivals.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where a total tonnage of 65,494 tons comprising 10,926 tons of export tonnage including 3,046 tons of wheat and 54,568 tons of import cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Sunday: Perseus Leader, with 180 vehicles, Stolt Alliance, to unload palm oil, Lom Barxia, to offload crude oil, Addarraq, to load molasses, Australia Bridge and Bunga Bidara, with containers.

The following ships are due on Monday: Sea Ace and Nikolas to load 18,000 tons of molasses and NCC Hijaz to unload chemicals.

KARACHI, Oct 19: Two ships carrying chemicals were arranged berthing at Multipurpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Saturday.

Eight ships, Antigoni-B, Francisca Schulte, GTS Sunrise, New Guardian, Nur Al Jubail, Sita Kathrine, Qem Star and Mass Prosperity were at the berths loading/discharging wheat, containers, chemicals diesel oil and iron ore.

Cargo handling activity remained brisk as a total tonnage of 62,779 tons comprising 50,780 tons of import and 11,999 tons of export cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 434 containers (Teus), was handled.

Two ships, Norasia Engiadina and Mass Prosperity sailed out, while Qem Star, New Guardian, Nur Al Jubail, Francisca Schulte and GTS Sunrise were expected to leave the port on Saturday.

Three ships M.V. Thrays Voulos-V, Agios Nectorious and Lobelia were due to take berths at Steel Jetty and Multipurpose Terminals.
