KARACHI: Liaquat’s anniversary

KARACHI, Oct 18: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro, paying tributes to the first prime minister of the country, Shaheed-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, has underscored the need for compliance with his basic principles of honesty and sincerity at all levels.

Addressing a programme organized here on Friday to observe the death anniversary of the leader, the governor said that the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice engendered by Khan Liaquat Ali Khan through actions all through his life can contribute to making Pakistan strong and prosperous.

He particularly urged the youth not to overlook the sacrifices rendered by their ancestors, and to continue contributing towards the cause of a self reliant and progressive Pakistan.

Soomro also suggested the need to institute awards, memorial shields and scholarships at local educational centres in the name of prominent personalities with a view to sensitize local children and youth of the services and contribution of their ancestors.
