KARACHI, Oct 15: Five ships carrying raw jute, iron scrap and chemicals are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active where five ships, Kota Wijaya, Trade Selene to offload and load containers, Iran Akhavan to offload fertilizer, Johar and Keiko to unload crude oil were berthed after the sailing of as many.

The ships, which departed were led by Bunga Yeresak, Kota Wijaya, PONL Singapore, Sima Kija and Sorena, while Pacific Express, Mar Challenger, Trade Selene, Johar and Keiko are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was on the higher side where a total tonnage of 89,283 tons comprising 16,684 tons of export cargo including 3,073 tons of wheat and 72,599 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The berth occupancy rose to 52 and 67 per cent at dry wharves and the oil piers thanks to steady arrivals.

The following ships are due to arrive on Wednesday: Berketka, Stolt Alliance, with chemicals, Frontier Express, with gas oil, Banglar Kallol, with 10,474 tons of raw jute, and Tigris, with 30,000 tons of iron scrap.

The following ships were due late on Tuesday evening: Jorogn, with 8,897 tons of palm oil, APL Portugal, Oriental Bright, with containers and Sakala, with steel.

Port Qasim


KARACHI, Oct 15: Four ships scheduled to load/offload crude oil, wheat, containers and chemicals were allotted berths at Multipurpose Terminal, Qasim International Container Terminal and Fotco Oil Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two more ships with containers and wheat also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy remained on the higher side as seven ships were at the wharves loading/ offloading wheat, crude oil, containers, chemicals and iron ore.

Total cargo volume handled rose to 62,308 tons comprising 26,529 tons of import tonnage and 35,779 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 1,030 containers (Teus).

Sailing activity remained active as three ships, Saudi Hofuf, Mina and Lodestar Grace sailed out, while Ievoli Shine and Inec-B were expected to leave the port on Tuesday.
