Narrow win for KGA Gymkhana

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 14: KGA Gymkhana registered a narrow 16-run victory over Dar Sports in the Shaheen Super League colour kit cricket tournament played on Sunday at the KGA ground.

Put into bat after losing the toss, KGA Gymkhana reached 205 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 35 allotted overs.

Sham Ramesh in fine fettle with the willow, top scored with 53 runs. He was ably supported by left-hander Victor Sebastian (32), Rajesh Ramesh (26), Jonathan Rodrigues (25) and Freddie Decruze (21).

Misbah-ur-Rehman was the pick of the Dars Sports attack picking up three for 40. Paceman Imran Ahmed chipped in with two for 35 and Maqbool Patail two for 51.

Set to score 206 runs for an outright victory, Dars Sports helped on by sloppy KGA fielding where not less than eight catches were grounded, seemed cruising to victory at 184 for six, just 22 runs from the victory target.

But a fiery spell of pace bowling by Rajesh Ramesh, changed the complexion of the game. Dars lost their last four wickets for only six runs as KGA emerged winners by just 16 runs.

Misbah-ur-Rehman also shining with the bat, top scored for his side with an unbeaten knock of 44 runs. Fahad Fahim (42), Anwar Ali (23) and Sohail Ahmed (20), were also among the runs. Rajesh Ramesh was the most successful KGA bowler picking up two for 39 runs.
