Three cases registered

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 12: Three cases, including two of murder, were registered in connection with poll-related violence in the district on Friday.

Ghulam Haider Soomro registered an FIR with the Shadi Palli police, accusing Waheed Dilbar, Peeral, Sikandar and Mohammad Hassan of attacking MQM activists and supporters with axes at a polling station, near Pithoro.

One of the five injured, Saindad Soomro, died on the way to to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital. The other injured, Bakhtawar, Mohammad Ali, Soomar and Gulsher, were taken to the hospital.

The police rounded up three of the accused, Waheed, Dilbar and Peeral.

Mohammad Tayyab Arain registered an FIR with the Digri police saying PPP supporters — Munawar Ali Arain, Shaukat Arain and Javed Arain — opened firing at a polling station in the Government High School Boys, Digri, injuring Dr Shahid Farooq Arain of the PML (N) who later died at a hospital.

Mohammad Mithal Mahar registered an FIR with the Umerkot police, accusing armed persons of the PPP, including Mehmood Palli, Liaquat Palli, and Chetan Bheel, of attacking polling station-119, Umerkot taluka, injuring him and Ali Murad.

VICTORY CELEBRATED: A large number of activists and supporters of the PPP celebrated the victory of Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani on NA-226 and Syed Qurban Ali Shah on NA-227 here Thursday late night.
