Final round ties today

LAHORE, Oct 10: The final round of the National Junior (Under-19) Grade-I One-day Cricket Tournament takes place Friday to decide qualifiers for next week’s triangular series.

Bahawalpur have upsets the odds with a stunning performance in Pool ‘A’ despite the presence of Karachi Whites and Karachi Blues.

Karachi Whites have a slim chance of topping the group, provided their Blues outfit defeat Bahawalpur, and they themselves score a big win over Quetta.

A third straight win for Bahawalpur will automatically seal Karachi Whites’ fate.

In the other two pools, mathematics won’t play any significant role unless there are is extraordinary result.

Lahore Blues and Sheikhupura, with two wins each under their belts, clash at Gaddafi Stadium to decide winners from Pool ‘B’.

The same situation exists in Pool ‘C’ where Rawalpindi face Fata to determine the group champions. Both teams are unbeaten after winning both their previous matches.

Friday’s schedule:

Pool ‘A’: Karachi Blues v Bahawalpur at National Stadium, Karachi; Karachi Whites v Quetta at NBP Sports Complex, Karachi.

Pool ‘B’: Lahore Whites v Islamabad at Shalimar Ground, Islamabad; Lahore Blues v Sheikhupura at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore;

Pool ‘C’: Peshawar v Kohat at Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar;  Rawalpindi v Fata at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
