ATTOCK, Oct 8: District Nazim Maj Tahir Sadiq Khan (retired) has said Rs400 million has been allocated to execute a mega project to provide drinking water and drainage facility to the residents of Attock city.

Speaking at a public meeting of PML-Q here at Fawara Chowk on Monday night, he said 900 teachers would be recruited on vacant posts, beside induction of 4,000 employees in different departments on grade 1 to 15.

Those present on the occasion included PML-Q candidates Malik Amin Aslam (NA-57) Sardar Hamayun Akber (PP-15), Punjab revenue minister Malik Aslam, Union Council Attock-I Nazim Malik Ejaz Amjad, Union Council Attock-II Naib Nazim Akram Khan, Union Council Attock-III Nazim Mirza Abdul Rehman and other councillors and workers of the party.

The district Nazim said the local government was committed to providing basic facilities to all areas of the district, for which, the provincial and federal governments had provided sufficient funds.

He said 14 tubewells were to be constructed in Attock and all water and drainage lines would be replaced. He said electrification of villages had been given top priority and 185 villages would be provided with the facility till December at a cost of Rs130 million.

Mr Khan said the Polytechnic Institute Attock was near its completion and the classes would start in November. He added that five new colleges were being built at Hasanabdal, Basal, Pindigheb, Fateh Jhang, and Bahter, and Degree College Attock would be converted into a university with the help of Punjab government.

He said 15 more high schools, including two in Attock city, would be built in the district to provide more education facilities to the students.

Speaking on the occasion, the PML-Q candidates, Malik Amin Aslam and Sardar Hamayun Akber, urged the people to join hands with them for resolution of their problems and development of the district.

They said the past governments only looted the national wealth, but the PML-Q would work for the prosperity of the country and launch special programme for elimination of poverty and unemployment.
