KARACHI, Oct 8: Acute water shortage continued to persist in various parts of the city for the second consecutive day on Tuesday.

Hard-hit areas included the old city area, Kharadar, Mithadar, parts of Lyari, PECHS Block 2 (situated behind Faiz-i-Aam Hospital), different sectors’ of Orangi, Baldia, North Karachi, Surjani, Shershah, Mehmoodabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 2 and Pak Colony.

Criticizing the KWSB officials for not ensuring smooth and regular supply to their localities, residents of the affected areas deplored the fact that although they had lodged a number of complaints with the KWSB officials concerned, the officials seemed least interested in resolving the recurring water issue.

Expressing their concern over the lingering water shortage problem, residents demanded of the city Nazim and the KWSB managing director to instruct the officials concerned to immediately rectify the fault responsible for frequent disruption of their water supply, as they cannot afford to buy private tankers which are being sold at exorbitant rates, and hence have no choice but to consume subsoil, unhygienic water at the cost of their health.

Residents of Ambreen Apartments, situated in Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 2, also complained of getting scant supply of water, that too after every two days.

Accusing the KWSB’s valve-man concerned of tempering with the valve operation of their locality and providing more water to the houses located in the vicinity of their apartment building, they demanded of the KWSB’s senior officials to take serious action against those responsible for depriving them of their quota of water.
