ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: Mutahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has announced that, if voted to power, it will improve Hudood laws in accordance with the injunctions of Islam.
According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the MMA candidate from NA-48, Mian Mohammad Aslam, while announcing the alliance’s manifesto about women, said higher secondary or, at least, middle level education would be made compulsory for girls.
The MMA will appoint an ombudsman for women to take prompt action on all kinds of complaints from women and to ensure inexpensive and speedy justice in their cases. New laws will be introduced for giving prompt punishments in the offences wherein women are targeted. Harassment of women will also be made a cognizable offence, the manifesto pledged.
The MMA government will take drastic steps for the protection of those women who are forced to act against their wishes and will, and also establish special centres for them to make them useful citizens. It will ensure due representation of the women in all fields of life, specially the industrial and technological fields. Women will be encouraged and provided with all the facilities for the establishment of cottage industry, and separate professional colleges will be established for them.
