KARACHI, Oct 6: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday alleged that “Haqiqi terrorists” last night killed Mohammad Ikram who was in charge unit 162, Liaquatabad Sector, while he was on his way home after attending a party election meeting.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) here on Sunday, deputy convener of the party, Nasreen Jalil, said that different political and religious parties were running their election campaigns fearlessly in all parts of the city including the “no-go-areas”.

“And the “Haqiqi terrorists” are conducting their election campaign in the Muttahida-dominated areas including Liaquatabad, Orangi Town and New Karachi, which clearly reflects the peaceful approach of the party,” she added.

She said the Sindh governor had recently denied the existence of any no-go-area in the city. On the other hand the law enforcement agencies had expressed inability to extend any protection to the Muttahida candidates contesting the election from those places, which had clearly exposed the governor’s claim.

“By expressing their inability, the law enforcement agencies have clearly acknowledged that Haqiqi terrorists are a state within the state, where the government has no control over their activities,” She added.

Dr Farooq Sattar, deputy convener of the party, speaking on the occasion, alleged that all such activities against the party were aimed at compelling it to boycott the election. “However, in the face of rising lawlessness the against party workers and supporters, we stand committed to pursue the democratic approach and foil the evil designs of the forces inimical to the Muttahida,” he added.

Prominent among those who attended the occasion were Shoaib Bukhari and Khalid Ben Walid.

Altaf: Leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, directed the coordination committee to review the applications of the workers who were suspended on account of violation of party discipline for the revival of their memberships, says a press release.

However, he asked the coordination committee to make it clear to such workers it will be their last chance as their basic membership would be cancelled if they again committed any violation of the party discipline.—PPI/APP
