KARACHI: KU teachers to boycott classes today

KARACHI, Oct 6: The Karachi University Teachers’ Society (KUTS) has announced its decision to boycott classes on Monday to protest the Oct 4 police action against teachers and students of colleges and universities at the D.J. Science College.

In a press statement on Sunday, the KUTS termed the police action an act of aggression against peaceful protesters.

The rally was held to demand withdrawal of the World Bank- sponsored policies, including the proposed model university ordinance, board of governors in hospitals, denationalization of colleges and schools throughout Pakistan.

The KUTS also expressed dismay over delay in inquiry against the police officials headed by SSP Tariq Khokhar as promised by City Nazim.—PPI
