ISLAMABAD, Oct 2: Foreign Office spokesman Aziz Khan has said that Pakistan’s support to anti-terrorism drive is not merely an official line rather it is a principle stand having peoples’ support.

“This is not only an official line. This has been a principled stand that the government and the people of Pakistan took to fight against terrorism,” the spokesman told BBC Radio.

Commenting on a recent US decision wherein the Pakistanis visitors to that country will be listed among the visitors of those nations who are closely questioned by the agencies the spokesman said, the step is deeply disappointing because Pakistan is a close ally of the US and perhaps a country that has done the most efforts as far as fight against terrorism is concerned.

He said the citizens of Pakistan would be subject to these particular routine that they have worked out for the people entering the United States. “We can express that concern and disappointment to the American authorities.

Pakistan has always fought against terrorism he said adding the country has itself been a victim of it.

He said Pakistan being a front line state in anti-terrorism drive has a record at United Nations where it has endorsed all the resolutions against terrorism.

To a question he said, there are miscreants in every society including Pakistan but they are apprehended and punished.

“I do not think there is any country in the world which does not have its share of criminals”, he added.—APP
