KARACHI, Oct 2: The body of a college girl was found in bushes at a derelict place in Surjani Town on Wednesday.

She was suspected to have been kidnapped, allegedly raped and later killed.

According to police investigation, Saira Yusuf, 19, studying at a college, was found dead near Qalandari mosque. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy where doctors were of the view that the girl had been subjected to torture.

Marks of torture and burns by cigarette were obvious all over her body, including her private parts. A mark of blunt weapon was also found in her forehead which indicated that she was hit with some hard object. Marks of strangulation were also found.

Police said the girl, a resident of 5-M in a shanty town of North Karachi, used to teach children and had been studying at a college in Nazimabad. She told her family at home on Monday that she was going to see one of her friends in New Karachi, and since then she remained untraceable, the family told the police.

Police believed the girl might have been kidnapped and subjected to torture. She was allegedly raped and strangled subsequently. The circumstantial evidence suggested that the girl’s body was not thrown there but it appeared she might have been taken there alive and then killed.
