ISLAMABAD, Oct 1: The People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) candidate for NA-48, Dr Babar Awan, has said that Islamabad topped among other cities of the country in terms of growing number of educated and skilled unemployed youth.
The candidate was speaking at an election meeting which was jointly organized by the People’s Youth Organization (PYO) and Labour Union of the Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP) in G-7/2 on Monday night.
There is no quota of the federal capital in the government services, he added.
Mr Awan sympathized with the youth of the capital who attend medical and engineering colleges situated in other parts of the country as the capital still lack these two important professional colleges.
He termed the situation as great injustice to the youth of Islamabad and pledged to fight for a constitutional amendment to ensure at least one per cent quota of the permanent residents of Islamabad in the government services as well as early construction of medical and engineering colleges in the city.
The candidate claimed that no other party of the country could match the “revolutionary manifesto” of his party as it offered a comprehensive and well thought out programme for rapid uplift and development of the country.
He lambasted the government for patronizing the candidates of the PML-Q and said: “It is a matter of shame that the governor Punjab flanked with loan defaulters and plunderers of the national wealth is shown on state run television inaugurating the development schemes in their constituencies.”
