KARACHI, Oct 1: Chief of PML (Z) Ejazul Haq called on Sunni Tehrik Chief Maulana Mohammad Abbas Qadri at the party’s headquarters at Markaz Ahle Sunnat here and discussed the elections and political situation.
A statement of the ST on Monday said the two leaders discussed seat to seat adjustment of the two parties electoral candidates’ in detail, especially in relation to support and coordination for NA-239.
Ejazul Haq said the ST is a patriotic party with sincere people. He added that the manifesto of their two parties contained common points, and that his party will certainly bring a change in politics with the ST’s cooperation.
The ST chief said his party will continue talks with the PML (Z) with an open ear and mind, and the ST election cell committee will soon make a decision which will be formally announced.
Central ST leader Maulana Iftikhar Ahmed Bhatti and PML (Z) Senior Vice President Sindh Kunwar Arshad Ali Khan were also present.
VOTER TURNOUT: Maulana Abbas Qadri said here that his party will foil attempts to give a deserted look to polling stations on October 10.
He said that people will have to turn out to vote in large numbers to ensure transparency in the elections.
Abbas Qadri said this while addressing an election meeting at Chandni Chowk, Saeedabad in constituency NA-240, according to a ST statement on Monday.
His party, he said, considers provision of relief to the people its prime duty, and will maintain its objective of service to the people.
Prior to his address, independent candidate for seats PS-90 and PS-91 Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah announced his retirement from the contest in favour of ST candidates Hakim Ehsan Qadri and Javed Iqbal.
The ST chief said upon coming to power, his party will make the establishment of Darul-Uloom and Darul Fanoon compulsory in every union council to impart religious teaching and technical skills to students.
His party, he said, will not allow any anti-religious and unpatriotic elements to exploit hunger, poverty and deprivation to achieve the goals of vested interests.—APP
