QUETTA, Sept 29: The Balochistan National Movement has accused the provincial government of appointing officers of its choice in the Makran division and other areas to help candidates of king’s party in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, BNM’s Central Information Secretary Dr Ishaq Baloch and Secretary-General Baloch Students Organization Kahir Mohammed Baloch said that despite clear instructions of the chief election commissioner, the provincial government was making largescale transfers and postings.

They said the Election Commission in its orders on July 27 had banned transfers and postings on strategic posts before elections. Dr Ishaq Baloch said the provincial government was not following this order and transferred many officers to Makran and other areas just to help the candidates of king’s party.

He said the government had planned to rig the elections in favour of its candidates in Makran division.

Dr Ishaq demanded of the chief election commissioner to take notice of these transfers and postings, and issued orders to stop this process forthwith. He said the provincial chief secretary should be asked to cancel all such orders.

The BNM leader also appealed to the European Union election observers to take notice of this practice and ensure holding of free, fair and transparent elections on Oct 10.

He announced that if the government did not stop interference in the election process, the BNM would have no other option but to launch a movement against the government with the help of nationalist forces.

Replying to a question, he said if the government continued to make transfers and postings, the BNM would move the court.
