KARACHI: PIA cabin crew demands changes in duty hours

KARACHI, Sept 29: The PIA cabin crew reiterated their resolve that they would do their best to ensure the safety of passengers during a flight, and expose the PIA administration that disregards internationally accepted rules of flight safety, says a press release.
The press release adds that people from a cross-section of society spoke at a seminar organized by the PIA cabin crew solidarity front. They demanded that in order to make flights safe the flying timing of cockpit crew and cabin crew should be made similar.
The former chief justice of the Sindh High Court, Nasir Aslam Zahid, advised the cabin crew to continue their struggle for their rights.
The president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association, Rasheed Rizvi, assured the cabin crew that the lawyers’ community would help them in every possible way, so much so that they would fight their cases free of charge.
The president of the Karachi press club, Sabihuddin Ghausi, also assured them that journalists would also extend their help.
The president of the Pakistan Medical Association, Dr Shershah Syed, said a panel of doctors was investigating the effect of different time zones and minimum rest on the health of the cabin crew.
The president of the pilot association, Captain Buchcha, also demanded that in order to make flights safe the flying timing of cockpit crew and cabin crew should be made similar.
The secretary-general of Air League, Shamim Akmal, said the administration was trying to please Islamabad by coming up with fictitious figures showing a profit.
