Nazim slams Soomro’s visit

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Sept 28: The district Nazim Khairpur, Nafisa Shah, on Saturday criticised the Sindh Governor’s earlier visit to the district.

Talking to Dawn on phone, she said the governor had announced grants for only three talukas — Nara, Faiz Gunj and Subhodero — while the needs of the other five districts, including Kingri, Kot Diji, Gambat and khairpur — had been overlooked.

Terming the announcement of funds for the three talukas deliberate discrimination, Nafisa Shah said the government was showing partiality towards areas with influence of the PML-F chief Pir Pagaro.

She said funds should have been arranged for all the eight talukas of the district.

Moreover, she said, the governor should not have undertaken the tour just prior to the election.

She said the recent visits undertaken by the governor looked like he was canvassing for the Nazim.

The governor had gone to Nara and Chundko.

The district Nazim said that the government should treat all talukas equally without any discrimination.
