KARACHI: Reckless driving claims three lives

KARACHI, Sept 27: Two jobless men committed suicide in the city no Friday.

A young man shot himself in the head before his family in Bismillah Colony, Orangi Town. Police said that Yousuf, aged 25, had been jobless for quite some time past. His would-be in-laws broke the engagement of their daughter with him because of his joblessness.

On Friday he shot himself in the head before his mother and a small brother.

His body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

The body of a man was fished out from the sea. Three days ago he had left his house, saying that he was going to commit suicide.

His body was found off the KPT gate in the police limits of Jackson in the morning. Police said that the dead man was identified as Ali Raza, aged 40.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Sources at the hospital said that the man died at least three days back and the body was partially decomposed.

Police said that Ali Raza had three children and a wife. He had been without a job for a long time.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: Reckless driving claimed three lives in the city on Friday.

A 10-year old boy, Farooq, son of Abdul Sattar, was run over by a speeding oil tanker at the Board office traffic intersection on Shershah Suri Road in the morning.

Police said that the boy was walking across the road when the speeding oil tanker (LS-6089) knocked him down. He was rushed to the nearby Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.

Following the accident, enraged youths put the oil tanker on fire. Police and the fire brigade put out the fire. The oil tanker was partially damaged.

The tanker driver escaped after the accident.

A seven-year-old boy died when he came under the wheels of a speeding minibus in Ibrahim Hyderi.

Police said that a speeding minibus of route X-2 knocked down Ilyas in the vicinity of Bhatti goth near power house. He was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The bus driver escaped after the accident.

One person died and seven others were injured in a road accident on Sharea Faisal on Thursday night.

Three vehicles rammed into one another near Karsaz Road in the police limits of Sharea Faisal. As a result, Mohammed Saleem, aged 35, died on the spot. Seven others, including a woman, were injured.

Five of the injured were identified as Zahoor Ahmed, aged 35, Kausar, aged 30, Khalil Abdul, Qadir Khan, and Haji Nazeer.

The injured were rushed to the JPMC.

ARRESTED: Police arrested a notorious bandit in Lyari on Friday.

Police said that Iqbal, alias Babu Dacoit, was arrested by the Baghdadi police. He was wanted in several criminal cases, including the recent one pertaining to firing at a bus stand in Lyari in which several persons were injured.
