KARACHI, sept 26: Businessmen Group (Teli Group) on Thursday swept the annual election of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for all but one managing committee seats.

Except for one candidate — Mian Nasir Hayat Magoo, whose result was withheld by the court — all the candidates of BMG Teli Group defeated the Irfan Group contestants.

The name of the winners are: Nasir M. Chandna, Abdul Nasir, Mohammad Kamran, Mohammad Salim Kapadia, Saqib Naseem, Jaffer Kudia, Mohammad Jehangir and Rasheeduddin.

As many as 18 candidates — nine each from the BMG Teli Group and Electronic Group of Mohammad Irfan — were contesting for the nine seats of the managing committee.

There were total 2,037 votes out of which 76 were declared invalid. Total valid votes were 1,961.

The winning candidates have been elected for the term of two years as compared to previous three year.

The election of president, vice president and senior vice president will be held on September 28. The annual general meeting will be held on September 30.
