Musharraf rules out arms race

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: President Pervez Musharraf has said that nation’s strategic capability was for deterrence of aggression and defence of our sovereignty.

Presiding over a meeting of the National Command Authority (NCA) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, he termed Pakistan’s nuclear policy as being one of the restraint and responsibility, says an ISPR press release.

The meeting attended by the members of the NCA, discussed issues of professional interest and approved a number of proposals.

The president expressed satisfaction with the pace of development work and stated that Pakistan’s minimum deterrence needs would continue to be pursued while avoiding an arms race.
