ABBOTTABAD, Sept 24: NWFP Education Minister Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani has urged the affluent and well-off to help the poor.

Speaking at the annual parents day function of Ayub Medical College on Tuesday, the minister advised the students to apprise themselves of the nobility of medical profession.

Mr Gilani pointed out that when the government took over, the exchequer was empty but with the proper management the situation had improved a lot.

In the education sector alone, he said, while the past governments had established 75 colleges during the last 55 years, the present government had opened 26 degree colleges, three public sector universities, two branches of the engineering university and two boards of intermediate and secondary education.
