KARACHI: Youth found dead, two commit suicide: 22 vehicles taken away

KARACHI, Sept 23: A youth died in a mysterious circumstances in Malir while two teenagers committed suicide in the city on Monday.

Rizwan Ahmed, 18, was found in a state of unconsciousness in a street near his home in Saudabad, Malir.

He was shifted to JPMC where he was pronounced dead by the medicolegal officer.

Police said victim’s family members later turned up at the hospital and informed the doctors that the victim was a heroin addict, and had been undergoing rehabilitation at home for the past six months. The family members had tied him with a bed, and on Sunday night, he managed to escape and was later found dead in the area.

Postmortem examination report has been reserved till the receipt of the histopathological report.

SUICIDES: A young girl committed suicide in her home in Orangi Extension on Monday.

Police said Humaira Jabeen, 14, hanged herself with a rope from a ceiling fan in her home in Tauheed Colony, Orangi Extension. Police said the girl, who had an altercation with her parents, locked herself in a room and hanged herself with a ceiling fan with the help of rope some time early Monday morning.

Her body was found by her family members when they broke open the door.

In another incident, another teenager committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Gulshan-i-Hadeed.

Police said Nadeem, 15, was employed at the canteen of a private school in Gulshan-i-Hadeed, and the owner had alleged that Nadeem had stolen cash from the canteen.

His body was sent to the JPMC for postmortem examination, police added.

BURNS: A housewife suffered severe burn wounds in her home in Orangi on Monday.

Tanzeem, 25, wife of Mohammad Shafi, sustained severe burn wounds in her home in Raees Ahmrohvi Colony, Orangi Town.

She was taken to the Civil Hospital by her husband, where she was admitted for treatment at the burns ward.

Hospital sources said the victim had received 95 per cent burn wounds.

Sources said victim’s brothers alleged that the couple had developed differences prior to the incident.

ACCIDENT: An unidentified man died in a road accident in Quaidabad on Monday.

The man in his mid-30s was hit by a speeding vehicle in Shah Latif police station limits, and was taken to JPMC, where he was pronounced dead by the medicolegal officer.

Later, his body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification.

CARJACKINGS: At least 22 vehicles — 10 cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in various parts of the city on Monday.

Four cars were taken away and six were stolen while seven motorcycles were hijacked and five were stolen in the city.

HASHISH: The Anti-Narcotic Force, in four raids on Monday, seized 29kgs of hashish and arrested three persons, adds APP.

In a raid near Lasbella Chowk, ANF staff arrested Mir Baloch and Siddique and recovered 15kgs of fine quality hashish from their possession.

In the second raid at Janhangir Quarters behind the Utility Store, 3kgs of hashish were recovered.

In two other raids, ANF officials arrested Rafique alias Kasoo and Altaf and recovered 6 and 5 kgs hashish from their possession respectively.

Cases have been registered against the culprits.
