Israeli atrocities condemned

Published September 22, 2002

ISLAMABAD, Sept 21: Pakistan People’s Party has expressed concern over Israeli atrocities and assured President Yasir Arafat and the people of Palestine of its continued support in this struggle to preserve national identity.

Mian Raza Rabbani, acting secretary-general of PPP, in a statement, called upon the international community to intervene and said otherwise it would be guilty of double standards. He said it was tragic and unfortunate that the Israeli army had once again laid siege to President Arafat’s headquarters at Ramallah.

He condemned the use of tanks and bulldozers to raze the Ramallah compounds and termed it a violation of international norms and universally accepted fundamental rights.

He said it was a matter of grave concern that the Israeli engineers had begun demolishing a part of the building of President Arafat’s offices, in which the structure could collapse on the besieged president.
