By Our Correspondent

SKARDU, Sept 19: A Japanese climber was killed in an accident after scaling the 7,072 meter Spantic Peak and a Pakistani climber suffered frostbite, sources said here on Thursday.

Satu Kanji Mori and Akbar Hussain, resident of Sadpara, were returning after scaling Spantic Peak in the Karakorum Range when Mr Mori fell into a crevasse.

He was brought down to camp three in critical condition, but he died of his injuries.

Akbar Hussain’s feet were injured due to frostbite and he was admitted to the district headquarters hospital here.

The Baltistan Association of Mountain Guides has appealed to the government to help Akbar Hussain in his treatment.
