KARACHI: 9 election petitions dismissed


KARACHI, Sept 19: Two benches of the Sindh High Court which heard 13 constitutional petitions each filed by candidates against rejection of their papers or acceptance of the same of rival candidates, dismissed nine while issuing notices on rest of the petitions.

According to details, the first full bench, comprising Chief Justice Sayed Saeed Ashhad, Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Musheer Alam, dismissed the petitions filed by Ms Ghinwa Bhutto, Maqbool Shaikh, Abdul Aziz and Zulfiqar Kumariyo against Agha Siraj.

The same bench issued notice for Sept 20 in eight petitions while notice was issued to respondents for Sept 21 in another petition.

The second bench, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice S. Ali Aslam Jaffery, dismissed five petitions, three filed by Ali Nawaz Khan Mahar and two by Sardar Raheem Bozdar.

The bench issued notice to DAG for Sept 20 in two petitions while notices were issued for Sept. 21 in petitions filed by others.—APP
