HYDERABAD, Sept 18: The central body of the Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party (STPP), at a marathon session held at the Taraqqi Passand house here on Tuesday night decided to support various candidates of the Peoples Party Parliamentarians and an MMA candidate from Karachi.

The candidates included Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote, from NA- 221 (Hyderabad-IV), Mohammad Khan Junejo from NA-236 (Sanghar), Malik Imamuddin Shoqeen, from PS-82 (Tando Adam), Nawab Ghani Talpur, from NA-231 (Dadu), Asif Shah, from PS-70 (Dadu), Ghulam Nabi Pereen Shoro, from PS-71 (Kotri), the MMA candidate from Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Karachi, Moulana Asadullah Bhutto, Hakeem Baloch, a candidate for national assembly from Malir, Karachi, the PPP provincial assembly candidate from Tando Allahyar, Imdad Ali Pitafi, the PPP candidate from Thatta, Wahid Soomro, a provincial assembly candidate from Ghotki, Mian Farooq, the Pir of Bharchundi Sharif and the PPP candidate for provincial assembly from Nawabshah, Ghulam Qadir Chandio.

The meeting authorised the chairman of the party, Dr Qadir Magsi, to announce party’s support for other candidates who were prepared to abide by the principles propounded by the party.

The STPP is boycotting the elections but it has formulated certain criteria to support the candidates who are not backed by the government and who have pledged to support the party’s demand for complete provincial autonomy and vow to fight for the rights of Sindhi people, as envisaged by the party.

The meeting condemned the announcement of the NFC Award on the basis of population and termed it a conspiracy to plunder the resources of Sindh.

The meeting supported the struggle of the Government Secondary Teachers Association and demanded that the local people should be given employment in the gas fields of Nara.
