KARACHI: Encroachments in Saddar to be removed

KARACHI, Sept 16: The member, Sindh local government commission, Syed Yaqub Zaidi, has said encroachments in Saddar Town will be removed gradually under a comprehensive policy.

During a visit to the area on Monday, Mr Zadi said Saddar Town is the most important trade and business centre in Karachi where millions of people come daily for business, but due to the encroachments there have been traffic congestions and other problems.

Town Nazim Farooq Memon Fariya and municipal officer Syed Hasan Naqvi apprised the Commission member of the Town’s one-year performance.

The Town Nazim said the administration had been working continuously for better performance, but apart from fund shortage the Town had to bear the burden of salaries of its 605 surplus employees.—APP
