KARACHI: Renovated postal centre inaugurated

KARACHI, Sept 16: All the five postal training centres at the provincial headquarters are being equipped with the latest technology for imparting training to meet today’s requirements.

This was stated by Lt-Gen Javed Ashraf Qazi, Federal Minister for Communications and Railways, while inaugurating a totally renovated postal centre at Karachi.

Recognizing the need for computerization in operational and administrative functions of today’s postal services, the first priority is being given to the creation of a computer literate pool of IT operators.

These trainees, the minister said, will be enabled to man the future business centres being setup all over the country.

He said that Pakistan Post is being equipped to face the challenges and opportunities offered by the global e-commerce environment. It is accordingly developing its infrastructure with comprehension of the future requirements, said Maj-Gen Agha Masood Hasan, Director General, Pakistan Post.

He pointed out that the training centre at Karachi was one of the first where postal officers from both wings of the country were imparted training.—APP
