KARACHI: Two commit suicide

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 14: Two young men committed suicide in the city on Saturday.

A jobless man committed suicide in his house in Quaidabad. Police said that Mohammed Alam Baloch, aged 26, a graduate, resident of Majeed Colony, Quaidabad, had been jobless for the past several months. As he was the sole bread-winner of the family, his joblessness resulted in starvation for his mother and other members of the family. All this pushed him into depression.

On Saturday he locked himself up in a room in his house and hanged himself from a ceiling fan. The family called police, who broke open the door and found Alam hanging in the room. The body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem and was later handed over to the family for burial.

A young man committed suicide by putting himself on fire at his house in Surjani Town.

Police said that Irshad Husain, aged 19, resident of Sector 7-D in Surjani Town, had fallen in love with a girl living in his locality. But since his love remained unrequited, he became dejected. He had been depressed for the past many days. On Saturday he doused himself with kerosene and put himself on fire.

He was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.
