KARACHI, Sept 13: Ten ships including Favorita to load 30,200 tons of wheat are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Clipper, Dagmar to unload and load containers, Sevenja to offload general cargo and Al-Maqwa to unload high speed diesel were berthed after the departure of five.

The ships, which departed included Al-Mariyah, Dagmar, Addelina, Ulysses and Clipper, while MOL Sincerity, Global Paramount, Kota Indah, Al-Maqwa and Absalon are due to sail out on Saturday.

Berth occupancy at the oil piers rose to 67 per cent thanks to steady calling by the oil tankers, while it fell to only 27 per cent at the dry wharves owing to delayed arrivals.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was brisk where a total tonnage of 92,658 tons comprising 15,625 tons of export cargo and 77,033 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Nur al-Jubail, with chemicals, L.M.Z. Evina and Johar, both with crude oil, MSC Teresa, Mar Challenger, PONL Malandi, Hyundai Progress, Parvat and Jamila, with containers and Favorita to load wheat under an export agreement.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Sept 13: Three ships carrying chemicals, general cargo and containers were accommodated berths at Multi-purpose Terminal and Qasim International Containers Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Friday.

Meanwhile, another ship, Ulysses scheduled to load wheat also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Seven ships, Goa, Msc Serena, Francisca Schulte, Nur Al Jubail, Oktem Aksoy, Pearl of Jubail Ali and Erims were at the wharves loading/discharging wheat, containers and chemicals, general cargo, and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 32,026 tons comprising 25,477 tons of import tonnage and 6,549 tons of export cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 477 containers (Teus), was handled.

Sailing activity remained modest as only one ship, Msc Serena sailed out while Nur Al Jubail was due to leave.

Three vessels, Qem Star, Abdoun Discovery and Warbah were expected to arrive.
