KHAIRPUR, Sept 12: The Khairpur District Council has termed recent transfers of some government officials a violation of the instructions of the Election Commission.

Through a resolution approved in its session on Thursday, the council demanded of the Sindh government to stop further transfers.

The session criticized the arrest of 20 persons from Nara taluka, who were protesting against the gas companies for denying them of jobs and compensation for their land used by the companies.

It demanded early transfer of the SHO, Sorah.

While participating in the debate on law and order situation, Amjad Ali Shah Jilani, Nazim, Bukhari union council, said that after taking over the charge by new DPO, many incidents of robbery occurred in the area, including snatching of 14 motorcycles in Khairpur city.

To control the deteriorating situation, the district administration had to depute two police constables at many places but they were instead harassing the people, he deplored.

Nazim, Nasir Faqir Jalalani UC, Imtiaz Mallah; Nazim, Sagiyoon UC, Aijaz Bughio; and other Nazimeen and the councillors also expressed their dissatisfaction over the law and order situation.

They said that the police officials of investigation and watch and ward branches were jointly creating problems for the people to whom no relief had been provided by the separation of the two police wings.

They alleged that investigation police were discarding the genuine FIRs after taking bribes from the accused parties.

The members also criticised the absence of the DPO in the session. It was decided that the DPO would again be called in next session to explain his position.
