KARACHI, Sept 12: Managing director of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation, Brig Tariq Saddozai on Thursday spent the morning public dealing hours at the Gulshan-i-Iqbal billing complaints counter.

After launching one-window customer’s services in Defence Housing Authority area, the KESC is planning to establish similar facilitation centres in other areas and Gulshan-i-Iqbal zone is being considered in the current phase.

The one-window services in DHA have also helped reduce transmission and distribution losses from 40 to 25 per cent and efforts are being made to bring it down to 20 per cent.

He said according to the quantum of electricity being supplied to the area, monthly consumption of 60,000 DHA consumers should be between 700 and 1,000 units per month per connection. However, until four months back the average customer was paying for 300 units monthly consumption, which has now increased to 600 units, while about 10 per cent power theft is still going on.—APP
