Public holiday on polls day


ISLAMABAD, Sept 10: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that Oct 10, the polling day for the forthcoming general election, will be a public holiday.

It was decided in a meeting of Election Commission held here under chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan. The CEC said the Election Commission can take any decision to ensure fair, free and impartial elections and the announcement of public holiday on Oct 10 is in accordance with the powers of Election Commission.—APP
