VEHARI, Sept 10: Prominent politicians contesting election from the platform of different parties have shown wrong information about their assets in the nomination papers, Dawn learnt on Tuesday.
A majority of these politicians have reportedly never paid income tax, wealth tax or land revenue. They have put in their statements value of their assets far below the market price. Here is the detail of the assets some of the contestants have shown in their papers.
AFTAB AHMAD KHAN KHICHI: He is the son of Vehari district Nazim Mumtaz Khan Khichi and PML-QA’s candidate for NA-169, Vehari-III.
He has shown his total assets worth Rs15.2 million. In immovable assets, 696-kanal agricultural land in Mailsi worth Rs13 million, a pajero worth Rs2.2 million and household items worth Rs60,000.
He get loan of Rs800,000 from a cooperative bank in Mailsi and Rs980,000 from the ADBP. It is learnt that Mr Aftab has never paid wealth and income taxes during the last three years.
TEHMINA DAULTANA: Ex-federal minister Tehmina Daultana of the PML-N is in run for NA-168, Vehari-II, and NA-169, Vehari-III.
In her statement, she has shown assets worth Rs10.9 million. Her assets include 112 acres and 13 marla agriculture land worth Rs7.5 million in Luddan, 13 kanal and 16 marlas in Kot Ghulam Qadir worth Rs100,000, 51 kanal and eight marlas in Luddan worth Rs600,000, a house in Lahore Cantonment worth Rs900,000, two houses in Murree worth Rs750,000, a house and business centre in Gulberg-II, Lahore, worth Rs600,000, saving certificates of Rs117,000, jewellery worth Rs66,000 and bank balance Rs225,000.
She paid Rs435,572 as income and wealth taxes during the last three year. However, she evaded agriculture tax. She also mentioned ownership of Lahore Nobel Grammar School. (Value not mentioned).
SHAHIDA DAULTANA: Daughter of ex-Punjab Chief Minister Mumtaz Daultana, is contesting from PPP’s platform in NA-168, Vehari-II. She claims her assets worth Rs22.6 million which include 515 kanals and four marlas agriculture land worth Rs11 million at mauza Ahmadabad, Ahmad Seed Corporation worth Rs1 million in Luddan, share of Rs80,000 in Neeli Bar filing station, Luddan, two houses in Karachi and Lahore worth Rs8 million, two cars worth Rs850,000, jewellery worth Rs180,000, prize bonds worth Rs280,000 and furniture worth Rs200,000.
Shahida never paid income, wealth and agriculture taxes during the last three years, an income tax official told Dawn.
ISHAQ KHAN KHAKWANI: He is contesting on PML-QA’s candidate from NA-168, Vehari-II.
He has shown his total assets worth Rs41.8 million. These include 209 acres agriculture land worth Rs40 million in Chak 27/WB, Vehari, share in a house in Lahore worth Rs250,000, seed mill in Chak 27/WB worth Rs505,000, a car worth Rs320,000, jewellry worth Rs280,000 and cash Rs250,000.
Mr Khakwani has never paid income, wealth and agriculture taxes during the last three years.
KASHIF MUSHTAQ BHABA: He is the nephew of ex-MPAs Noor Khan and Mumtaz Khan Bhaba and contesting as an independent candidate from NA-169, Vehari-III.
He has shown his assets of Rs21.3 million. These include 191 acres agriculture land worth Rs28.5 million in Mailsi, two houses in Mailsi and Multan worth Rs 2.2 million, a car and a tractor (value not mentioned), jewellery worth Rs125,000, household items worth Rs150,000. He has never paid taxes in the last three years.
MAHMOOD AKHTAR GHUMAN: He is an ex-provincial minister and PPP’s candidate for NA-167, Vehari-I.
In his statement, the total worth of his assets was not mentioned. The break-up is 170-kanal agriculture land, a house in Chak 445/EB, 10-marla plot in Burewala, 10-marla plot in housing scheme, Vehari, two-and-a-half kanals plot in Chak 9/WB, Vehari, three-kanal plot in Chak 198/EB, 10-marla plot in Chak 441/WB, $24,445 in cash, Rs145,000 in a Burewala bank, a car and furniture worth Rs100,000.
He never paid income tax and land revenue during the last three years.
SARDAR NOOR AHMAD MALAZI: He is a PML-N’s candidate for NA-170, Vehari-IV.
His assets are worth Rs5 million. These include 93-kanal agriculture land, seven-marla plot (value not mentioned), a house in Mailsi worth Rs20 million, a car (value not mentioned), jewellery worth Rs300,000, households items worth Rs100,000 and bank balance of R 23,000.
Like most of the politicians, he has been evading taxes for the last three years.
AURANGZEB KHAN KHICHI: Son of ex-MNA Dilawar Khan Kichi, Aurangzeb is PML-QA’s candidate for NA-170, Vehari-IV.
According to his statement, his assets include 799 kanals and 19 marlas land (value not mentioned). He has during the last three years never paid taxes and his family owes Rs6 million to ADBP.
CHAUDHRY NAZIR AHMAD: Contesting from PML-QA’s ticket from NA-167, Vehari-I, he has sown his assets worth Rs10.2 million. His assets include 48 acres agriculture land in Chak 239/EB worth Rs7.5 million, a plot in Burewala and three plots in Lahore (value not mentioned), a house worth Rs500,000 in Chak 239/EB, a Pajero worth Rs1.6 million, furniture and other household items worth Rs150,000, construction companies in Saudi Arabia and USA (value not mentioned).
He has not paid any tax in the last three years. He contested the election for district Nazim but lost.
MIAN JAVED MUMTAZ DAULTANA: Ex-MPA Mian Javed is the son of Mumtaz Daultana. He is in run from the PPP’s platform in PP-234, Vehari-III.
The worth of his assets shown by him is Rs8.8 million. His assets are 106 kanals and 13 marlas agriculture land in Luddan worth Rs2 million, 49 kanals and nine marlas land in Chak 37/WB, Vehari, worth Rs900,000, a house in Lahore worth Rs5 million, furniture and other household items worth Rs225,000, cash (at hand) Rs600,000.
Mr Javed has during the last three months not paid any tax.
NAFISA ASIF KHURSHEED: She is the sister-in-law of ex-MPA, tehsil Nazim Mian Saqib Khursheed. She is contesting from PML-QA’s platform for PP-236, Vehari-V.
Describing her assets, she has shown their worth Rs5 million. Among her assets are 45 kanals and 16 marlas agriculture land worth Rs1.6 million in Mustafabad, seven-marla land in Chak 65/WB worth Rs200,000, share in house in H-Block, Vehari, worth Rs1 million, 43 kanals and 12 marlas agriculture land worth Rs1.2 million, one acre land in Chak 25WB, Vehari, Khursheed Seed Corporation worth Rs100,000, Share of Rs250,000 in Lasani Agro Chemicals, share in the Jalandhur Cotton Factory, a private school The Knowledge Home in Vehari worth Rs150,000.
She never paid taxes during the last three year.
TAHIR IQBAL CHAUDHRY: Recently joined the PML-N, he is contesting election from PP-236, Vehari-V.
Worth Rs6.1 million, his assets include 67 kanals and eight marlas land in Chak 47/WB, Vehari, worth Rs1.3 million, a house in Vehari worth Rs400,000, shares in ice factory, oil mill, and cotton factory worth Rs1.6 million, 20 kanals agriculture land in mauza Johar Islam worth Rs2.5 million, jewellry worth Rs100,000, and furniture worth Rs100,000.
He is among those who never paid any tax during last three years.
ASIF SAEED MANAIS: Son of ex-Punjab assembly speaker and opposition leader, Asif Manais is contesting polls from the PP-238, Vehari-VII as PML-J and PML-QA’s candidate.
He has shown his assets worth Rs2 million. His assets include a house at Tibba Sultanpur worth Rs1 million, car worth Rs500,000, share in Saleem Cotton Factory (worth not mentioned) and bank balance of Rs25,000.
During the last three years, he never paid income tax.
MIAN MAJID NAWAZ: He is the son of ex-MPA Mian Mehfooz Arain. He is in run from PML-QA in PP-239, Vehari-VIII.
He has stated his assets worth Rs15 million. These include agriculture land in Mailsi (714-kanal), 1,275 kanals, (on wife’s name), a plot in Murree worth Rs1.4 million, a house in Lahore worth Rs1 million, Zeeshan oil mills in Mailsi, a car worth Rs1 million, jewellery worth Rs30,000, a shop in grain market Mailsi worth Rs500,000, a jeep (worth not mentioned), Rs1.1 million in a UBL branch, Lahore, Rs1 million in MCB Lahore, Rs1 million in NBP Mailsi, Rs6 million, and Rs5,000 in MCB Mailsi.

NASIM KHAN KHICHI: He is the son-in-law of ex-MNA Dilawar Khan Khichi. Contesting from PML-N from PP-239, Vehari-VIII, he has shown his assets worth Rs10 million.
His assets include Naz cinema, Mailsi, worth Rs5 million, a four-acre house in Mailsi (worth not mentioned), two plots of 24 marlas in Mailsi worth Rs1.5 million, 96 acres agriculture land (worth not mentioned), a pajero worth Rs700,000.
He never paid land revenue, income and wealth taxes during the last three years.
