Two women, four girls buried alive

MITHI, Sept 10: Two women and four teenaged girls were buried alive under a slab of clay, which fell over them as they were digging near their village Mevo Khan Rind Kantio, taluka Chhachhro.

The deceased include Ms Naghaan, 55, wife of Allah Bachayo, Ms Wali, 20, wife of Muhammad Qasim, Bhagi, 12, daughter of Allah Bachayo, Luni, 12, daughter of Dhani Bux, Noor Bano, 11, daughter of Dost Ali, and Loon Bai, 12, daughter of Sain Bux.

Scores of villagers rushed to the site of the tragic incident and helped in the recovery of the bodies. Their autopsy was conducted in the village by a lady doctor from Umerkot Hospital. Chhachhro police have lodged an FIR of accidental death. Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: The funeral prayers of the deceased was largely attended in the village. The villagers expressed their disappointment about the local administration’s apathy, saying not a single official had visited the village despite the tragic incident.
