KARACHI: Reckless driving claims four lives: Another jobless commits suicide

KARACHI, Sept 9: A jobless young man committed suicide in his house in Mochko on Monday.

Police said that Dost Mohammed, aged 35, shot himself in the head with an unlicensed pistol in his house in Dawood goth, Mianwali Colony, near Naval Colony.

Quoting the family sources, police said that Dost Mohammed had been jobless for quite some time past and was suffering from depression.

His body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Sources at the hospital said that the young man shot himself in the head from a close range, and the bullet pierced through his head killing him on the spot.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: Reckless driving claimed four lives in the city on Monday.

A motorcyclist died and his pillion-rider was injured when they were hit by a speeding vehicle in Defence Housing Authority. Police said that Shamimur Rahman, aged 36, and Faisal Sami, aged 20, were knocked down by a private car (ABD-247) in Khayaban-i-Ittehad, Phase-5, DHA. Shamim died on the spot.

Police said that the driver of the car, who was identified as Dr Nayyar, shifted the injured to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC). But the person who had brought the injured to the hospital slipped away from the hospital.

A young man died in a road accident on Dalmia Road in the morning.

Police said that Aftab Ali Shaikh, aged 20, riding on a motorcycle (SKD-3541), was hit by a speeding passenger bus of route 52-B (JA-6353). He was seriously injured, and rushed to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The bus driver drove off after the accident.

A 16-year-old boy, Zubair Ahmed, riding on bicycle, was run over by a speeding truck (JS-5877) in Steel Town. He died on the spot. His body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

Police said the truck driver, identified Fareed Ahmed, was arrested and the vehicle was impounded.

A young man died in a road accident in Mauripur in the evening.

Abdullah, aged 18, and Abdul Majeed, aged 17, residents of Steel Town, were standing at a bus stop in Mauripur when a speeding Suzuki pick-up (KH-8184) dashed into them. As a result, Abdullah died on the spot. Abdul Majeed was injured. Majeed has been admitted to Civil Hospital.

Police claimed to have arrested the pick-up driver and impounded the vehicle. The two young men went to SITE area in search of job.

DIES OF BURNS: A housewife died of burns on Monday. Police said that Tulsi, aged 25 uffered burns in her house in Zia Colony.
