HYDERABAD, Sept 9: The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (Sindh Chapter) has expressed shock over the inhuman treatment meted out to the teachers of the Karachi University by the law enforcement agencies in which the secretary, All Pakistan Universities Staff Academic Association, Prof Sarwar Naseem, was also seriously injured.
In a statement issued on Monday, the secretary of the association, Prof Mohammad Urs Shaikh condemned the highhandedness of the authorities and demanded the immediate removal of the vice chancellor and his associates and a judicial inquiry into the incident.
He has summoned an urgent meeting of the association for Sept 11 at the Sindh University to chalk out the future line of action.
MUTA: The general body of the Mehran University Teachers Association (MUTA) at an urgent meeting held on Monday has also condemned the barbaric action of the law enforcement agencies against the teachers and students of the Karachi University.
The meeting regretted that the teachers were treated as criminals and subjected to inhuman atrocities.
It strongly supported the demands of the Karachi University Teachers Society for the immediate removal of the vice chancellor and his associates and a judicial inquiry into the incident by a judge of the Sindh High Court.
SPLA: On the call of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), black day was observed in all the colleges of the province to protest against the brutalities of the law enforcement agencies against the teachers and students of the Karachi University.
The college teachers wore black arm-bands during the classes, hoisted black flags on the college buildings, and held protest meetings.
They demanded the immediate removal of the vice chancellor, Karachi University, and a judicial inquiry into the incident.
