Two officials suspended
HARIPUR, Sept 8: Tehsil Nazim, Haripur, Iftikhar Ahmad Khan has suspended the municipal engineer and sub-engineer of TMA Haripur on charges of giving illegal approval for construction of shops on the state land at Sain Sehaili Road here.
He also razed the eight shops with the help of local police and TMA staff recently.
Iftikhar noticed that one shopsowner, who happens to be an official from the govt prosecution department, had only 260 sq ft of land in his name whereas the rest was encroached upon.
Before demolishing the structures the Nazim asked the shopowners to produce record for the land but he couldn’t except for the 260 sq ft. It was also known that the structures were erected with the connivance of TMA engineer and sub-engineer.
The two TMA officials were also served with show-cause notices besides suspension. Iftikhar also asked the district police chief to register a case under Land Act against the prosecution officer.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Aabid, the Naib Nazim of UC Central, has criticized the move terming it a vindictive action.
