Freezing of dist govts’ funds urged

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 8: Balochistan National Party (Mengal) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal demanded on Sunday that functioning of the district governments should be suspended and their funds should be freezed for ensuring free, fair and transparent elections in Balochistan.

In a statement, the BNP(M) leader said the Election Commission and courts should take notice of the partial attitude of the provincial and district governments, which were helping the king’s party in its election campaign.

He alleged that the government was distributing wheat and using irrigation funds in the province through its favorite Nazimeen and councilors. He said the process should stopped without any delay.

Akhtar Mengal said the federal and provincial governments had used the influence of the district Nazimeen and councilors in the referendum and distributed wheat among the people using public funds. The same practices were seen in Balochistan and public funds were being used to buy the loyalties of the people.
