25 injured in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Sept 7: At least 25 people were injured Saturday when soccer fans of two leading Bangladeshi teams clashed at Dhaka’s Bangabandhu National Stadium, witnesses said.

They said rival fans of Abahani Sporting Club and Mohammedan Sporting Club threw stones, bricks and

bottles at each other as the game drew to a close, leaving some 30,000 spectators to run for safety.

Abahani won the match 2-0. Soccer is Bangladesh’s most popular sport.—AFP
