RAWALPINDI, Sept 6: The district government will forward a proposal to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the installation of a treatment plant for waste water and the second phase of the city’s sewerage system improvement project, officials said here on Friday.

The district government will proceed further with these projects after getting the approval of the ADB.

An Australian firm presented a proposal to the district government for the collection of waste and water and its treatment. The proposal envisaged laying of sewerage system and collecting the sewage from the city and cantonment areas near Moti Mahal Cinema and transmitting it through a pipeline to a treatment plant to be installed at Gor Khapur.

The sewage is then proposed to be delivered into the Soan Canal after treatment. This water, the proposal states, may be re-used for irrigation in arid areas.
