Generals should expect criticism: PML

ISLAMABAD, Sept 5: Pakistan Muslim League Information Secretary Siddiqul Farooq on Thursday said that it generals or organizations of armed forces indulge in politics, they should remain prepared for facing criticism.

“If they will indulge in politics then they will be criticized in the same manner as they criticize the politicians,” he said a in statement issued by the party secretariat.

Reacting to the statement of an official spokesman in which he had been blamed of working for anti-state elements, he said the spokesman had levelled the allegations when he made public Gen Musharraf’s attempt to reach a deal with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that under the Constitution, the armed forces could not be criticized as long as they confined to their professional role.
