Prgmea plea

Published September 6, 2002

LAHORE, Sept 5: The Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) has called upon the commerce ministry to allow over-programming of textile quota categories for the EU to exporters during this year by 30 per cent of their performance shown last year.

In a statement, the Prgmea said the measure would reduce pressure in the open market where quota of various EU categories are being sold at abnormally high rates. It said the small manufacturers and new exporters were focussing their attention on the EU since Sept 11, 2001 for increasing their exports.
