The bullet-riddled body was found in a graveyard in Usman Colony, a shanty town in North Nazimabad. The Sharah-i-Noorjahan police took the body to a hospital and later kept at the Edhi morgue for identification.

On Wednesday, Haroon Qadri, a follower of the deceased, identified the victim as Izharul Haq Jhangvi, 26, the town police officer of North Nazimabad, Saeed Rehmani, said.

The police said the victim had received two bullet shots in the abdomen, two in the chest and one shot in the temple.

Police said they believed the victim might have been kidnapped somewhere else and shot dead in the graveyard.

Officials of the Investigation Wing in the police said they had failed to ascertain that when and for what purpose Izhar had come to Karachi.

The investigation wing also failed to locate the place where the victim had stayed before he was kidnapped and killed. The police had handed over the victim’s body to Maulana Ameen, Peshimam of Noor mosque in the Jubilee area.

The Edhi sources said arrangements were being made to transport the body to Jhang.
