KARACHI, Sept 4: The National Trade Union Federation of Pakistan has called upon the government to postpone the announcement of new labour policy and leave the matter for the elected government to decide.
Speaking at a press conference, the general secretary of the NTUFP, Saleem Raza, said labour policy which is to be announced by the government is anti-worker and favour’s the employer.
Besides, the policy is in contradiction with the agreements reached during the formulation stage between the representatives of the labour unions and government, he added.
He said due to the short-term policies, over 7,000 industrial units have become sick and unemployment has risen to 19 per cent.
