HBL, KESC qualify for semifinals


KARACHI, Sept 2: Favourites Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) notched-up their second victories to enter the semifinals of Independence Day basketball tournament at Arambagh Floodlit Court Sunday.

HBL overwhelmed Karachi Youth Club (KYC) 97-71. Bankers were leading 44-34 at breather.

Muhammad Azam, Altaf Habib and Muhammad Ashraf demonstrated superb skill to nearly carry their team close to hundred mark. Azam was the outstanding player with 32 point. Altaf (25) and Muhammad Ashraf scored 21 points.

Rizwan Khan showing swiftness emerged as the highest scorer with 25 and got good support, who made ten points.

KESC handed out a humiliating 62-29 defeat on Karachi Cantt Sports Club (KCSC) thanks to fine display by Arif Khan, Wasim-ur- Rehman, Muhammad Azeem and Talha Amjad.
