Papers of Imran, Laleka rejected

MIANWALI, Sept 2: The nomination papers of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chief Imran Khan for NA-71 were rejected on Monday.

Returning Officer Mehr Muhammad Yousaf rejected the PTI chief’s papers when his lawyers could not produce his educational certificates in original.

The candidatures of Ubaidullah Khan Shadikhel, G.M. Shah (PPP) and Abdul Qayyum Khan of Isakhel for NA-71 were accepted.

The papers of Aamir Hayat Khan Rokri for PP-44 were rejected because he had not cleared his income tax dues.

BAHAWALNAGAR: Nomination papers of former federal minister and PML-QA candidate Abdul Sattar Laleka were rejected for NA-190, Chishtian.

The returning officer accepted the objections raised by Aftab Ahmad Goraya advocate, the counsel for PPP candidate Sajjad Ahmad and MMA candidate Alam Ali Laleka, against the BA degree of Sattar Laleka.

Alam Laleka is the brother-in-law of Abdul Sattar Laleka.

GUJRANWALA: The scrutiny of the nomination papers of about 205 aspirants for seven national and 14 provincial assembly seats was completed.

Out of the 62 aspirants for national assembly seats, nomination papers of five were rejected. They included PML-N leader and former mayor Ghulam Qadir Khan (NA-95) and PPP’s Khwaja Saleh (NA-96). Papers of eight candidates for provincial assembly seats were rejected.

After the scrutiny, 67 candidates for seven national assembly seats and 135 for 14 provincial assembly seats were in the run.

BAHAWALPUR: After the scrutiny, 141 candidates for four NA and eight Punjab Assembly seats are in the arena in Bahawalpur district.

VEHARI: The nomination papers of almost all candidates of PPP, PML-N, PML-QA and MMA were accepted in the district.

In all 145 candidates had filed papers for four national and eight provincial assembly seats in the district.

FAISALABAD: The scrutiny of the nomination papers of 502 candidates for 11 national and 22 provincial assembly seats was completed in the district.

The nomination papers of 13 candidates have been rejected. They include former senator Tariq Chaudhry of PML-QA (PP-65), former MNA Safdar Rehman of PML-N (NA-79) and Ghareeb Party Pakistan chairperson advocate Mahwish Chaudhry (PP-69).

As many as 147 candidates, including four women, had filed nomination papers for 11 national assembly while 355 for 22 provincial assembly seats of the district.

Only Aftab Younis Masih had filed his papers as an independent candidate for PP-68.

Prominent politicians whose nomination papers were cleared are Raja Nadir Pervaiz (PML-N), Mian Zahid Sarfraz (PML-J), Malik Ahmad Saeed Awan (PPP), Rana Aftab Ahmed (PPP), Badaruddin Chaudhry (PPP), Muhammad Afzal Sahi (PML-QA), Chaudhry Muhammad Akram (PML-N), Sahibzada Fazle Karim (PML-N), Zaheeruddin (PML-QA), Wasi Zafar (PML-QA), Amanullah Khan (Millat Party) and Rana Farooq Saeed (PPP).
