KARACHI: Nasal allergies increasing in the city

KARACHI, Sept 2: Changing climatic conditions coupled with dust and pollen in air are contributing to high incidence of allergy in varied forms across the country.

Nasal allergy has been particularly observed among Karachiites, owing to the fact that Karachi is a coastal city, and people’s exposure to humid climatic conditions and extremely polluted air.

According to doctors, people suffering from nasal allergy could be seen sneezing with a watery discharge from the nose. This watery discharge may become thick, turning yellow or sometime greenish in colour due to bacterial infection.

Over-activity of the mucous glands in the mucous membrane of the nose is said to cause enlarged turbinate in a way that heavy exercise causes skeletal muscles to increase in mass.

The best treatment for allergy could be to avoid things that cause allergies. The patients suffering from allergies are suggested to take anti-allergic drugs under the supervision of a qualified doctor.—APP
