KHAIRPUR, Sept 1: A large number of tail-end growers of Gurkano Minor continued their protest against the shortage of water at the tail of Gurkano Wah here on Sunday.
Later, the protesters observed a token hunger strike.
ARRESTED: The Sorah police have arrested Qadir Bux, who allegedly killed his father the other day near Chondiko.
The police have obtained three days’ physical remand of the accused.
PROTEST: A large number of residents of Talo Bhando village continued their protest for the third consecutive day here on Sunday to press for the arrest of an accused who injured a villager, Saeed Ahmad.
The protesters observed a hunger strike against the Ahmadpur police who challaned two villagers.
Meanwhile, the president of the Asif Ali Zardari Rehai Committee, Mubeen Ahmad Phulpoto, also joined the protesters and demanded judicial enquiry into the matter.
STPP: A large number of activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STPP) observed a token hunger strike for its five-point agenda regarding problems of the district.
The agenda include jobs for locals at gas field, Nara, supply of irrigation water, improvement in law and order situation, repair of Scarp tube-wells and payment of royalty on gas to the district government.
INJURED: Six persons were injured here on Saturday night in two road incidents.
Allah Bux, Qurban Ali and Badal were injured when a motorbike and a donkey-cart collided head-on on the National Highway near Darib Mehar Shah.
In another incident, three motorcyclists, Kashmir, Sahib and Lal Chand, were injured.
The injured were later admitted to the Khairpur Civil Hospital.
ARRESTED: A police party arrested a bandit, Meeral Narijo, an accomplice of bandit Nazro Narijo, near Abro Sim Nali, on Saturday.
The police claimed Meeral had killed Din Mohammad Narijo and Raheem Dino Narijo and was also wanted in some ten cases.
